Health Worker Commits Suicide In Lagos

Report has it that a Health Assistant simply known as Victoria has on Sunday 31 December 2023 taken her own life inside a medical center where she worked in the Surulere area of Lagos state.

It was gathered that the police in the Surulere Police Division received a report from the Medical Director of the Health center where she worked that on the said day the late Victoria was not seen in her duty post.

The medical director informed the police that after several attempts to reach the deceased, they heard her phone ringing inside a room in the hospital. Adding that all attempts to open the door failed as the deceased had already locked the door from inside.

According to the medical director, a carpenter was called in and the door was forced open where her lifeless body was then seen lying on the bed.

The DPO of the division who arrived at the scene of the incident, found out different types of drugs, some injections and syringes around the deceased.

It is believed that she used the substances to take her life as no sign of injury was noticed on her body.

As of the time of filing this report, her body has since been deposited in the mortuary.

Spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident to newsmen said that an investigation has since commenced on the incident.
