Odumosu urges Civil Defence officers to prioritize FCT security

—

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) held a ceremony yesterday to honor and decorate 1,000 newly promoted senior officers.

The commandant, Mr. Olusola Odumosu, expressed gratitude to the minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the commandant-general of the corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for the substantial promotions during the current administration.

Odumosu emphasized that the officers’ promotions were a recognition of their years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving the nation.

He highlighted the qualities of courage, discipline, and resilience required to climb the ranks.

The decorated officers were praised for their exceptional commitment to duty, impressive skills, strategic thinking, and deep understanding throughout their careers.

Encouraging the newly promoted officers to match their elevation with increased hard work and dedication, the FCT commandant stressed the importance of their contributions to addressing security challenges in the nation’s capital.

He expressed confidence that they would continue to serve with honor and distinction.

In his congratulatory message, Odumosu reminded the officers of the principle, “To whom much is given, much is expected,” urging them to view the promotion as a call for more critical roles.

He emphasized that promotion is a result of divine intervention and encouraged them to work and pray harder, ensuring they meet the expectations placed upon them.

It’s worth noting that the federal government, through the Ministry of Interior, recently promoted over 21,000 officers to various ranks and cadres.

This promotion followed the efforts of Dr Ahmed Audi, who advocated for the advancement of personnel, citing stagnation for many over the years.

The promotion was approved by the minister, with 21,000 officers succeeding in their examinations conducted nationwide in 2023.
