Miyetti Allah request compensation for those affected by drone attacks in Nigeria

—

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has appealed to the Federal Government to provide compensation to all victims of drone attacks throughout the country.

In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, the National President of MACBAN, emphasized the government’s responsibility to address this issue by announcing a comprehensive package for the affected individuals.

Othman-Ngelzarma, in the statement, also highlighted the need for the military to exercise caution in carrying out its duties.

The statement specifically urged the Federal Government to ensure justice for those allegedly killed in Rukubi, Doma Chiefdom, Nasarawa State, on January 27, 2023, as a result of a drone attack by the Nigerian Air Force.

According to the statement, the victims had been offloading their livestock, which had been retrieved from the Benue livestock guard after paying a fine of N29 million.

To emphasize the innocence of the victims, it was noted that they were publicly buried in the presence of Nasarawa State officials, royal fathers, and thousands of sympathizers.

“The victims were bona fide, peace-loving Nigerians, deserving justice like every other citizen,” the statement asserted.

It further highlighted that both the leadership of the Northern Governors Forum and the federal legislative arm of the government had visited the site and pledged various forms of assistance.

the statement called on the Federal Government to extend a similar gesture to the victims of the Rukubi Drone Attack and similar incidents in other states.

MACBAN emphasized that the time has come for the Federal Government to formulate a clear and comprehensive compensation package for victims of such incidents nationwide.

“We, therefore, call on the Federal Government to extend the same gesture to the victims of Rukubi Drone Attack and similar incidences that took place in other states.

“We believe now is the time for the Federal Government to come out with a clear-cut compensation package for victims of such incidents across the nation.“
