The board of Nigeria National League (NNL) has slammed a fine on Sokoto United and Ijebu United Football Clubs after the fans of both clubs were involved in assaulting match officials during their match day3 league games on December, 1 2023 and December, 2, 2023.
NNL, who frowned at the development, said the horrendous approach from the irate fans of the culprit clubs goes against its framework and thereby slammed Sokoto United with a fine of N1,000.000.00 (One million Naira) and N50,000 (Fifty thousand Naira only) to replace the damaged windscreen of Kebbi United Bus and Hospital bill for the treatment of the injured Kebbi’s United Player, Eli John.
The NNL, in taking the summary jurisdiction also, rules that the next three (3) home games of Kebbi United at the Ginginya Memorial Stadium, will be under strict closed Doors.
Sokoto United have been given until Friday the 15 of December to respond to the fine.
Furthermore, Sokoto United chief coach, Muhammed Dan Asabe and the club goalkeeper Trainer, Shehu Rilwan were handed a two month ban by the NNL for the scandalous roles they played in the attack on match officials.
Ijebu United have mandated by the NNL committee to pay the sum of N500,000.00 (Five hundred thousand Naira) after their angry fans attacked match officials during their league game against Tradesafe FC of Lagos, at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode,Ogun State.
