Hit-And-Run Police Officer Kills S.S 1 Student In Ogun

The General Secretary of the Ipokia Local Government Youth Forum (IPYF), Adeyemi Sulaiman Olusegun, has confirmed the dead of one Eniola Adeleye a Senior Secondary School 1 student of Mayigi Community High School, Ilashe, in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State killed by a hit-and-run Police Officer.

The incident occurred on Thursday 30th November 2023 when the Police Officer popularly identified as “Freedom” knocked down the deceased with his vehicle while chasing a motorcyclist who was trying to get away from extortion. The Police Officer killed the young girl and injured other students in the process.

Commenting further on the incident, youths under the aegis of Ipokia Local Government Youth Forum (IPYF) condemned in vehement terms, activities of the Nigerian Police in the area demanding that all check points in the area be disband.

While describing the incident as barbaric and unprofessional, the forum called on the authorities of the Nigerian Police Force to swiftly arrest and prosecute the officer for manslaughter and incitement of public unrest.

As of the time of filing in this report, nothing has been heard from the Nigerian Police in the area in response to the incident involving the accused who is reportedly at large.
