An Islamic cleric Mahdi Shehu has faulted in vehement terms, the Muslim-Muslim ticket that brought in the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a viral video clip that lasted about six minutes, tagged; “Extreme Poverty In Nigeria: where are the Sheikhs?”, Mahdi described the ticket as unwholesome and a venom adding that it was unjustifiable and unthinkable for a country with millions of Christians and followers of other influences, other than the Muslims, to say that there was no Christian from the Northern part of Nigeria competent enough to become the presidential running mate to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Islamic figure stated that, despite the fact that only about eight million people voted for the Tinubu/Shittima ticket, in unison, fourteen million Nigerians voted against the ticket.
He disclosed that, for some very clear reasons some Islamic clerics, with few exception, influenced their followers, misinterpreted the verses of the Quran to promote and justify the Muslim- Muslim which brought untold hardship on the citizens.
“Now it is Muslim-Muslim ticket at play…increasing hunger, starvation, insecurity all over the horizon. People are traumatized, confused, bewildered and dislocated. Everybody today in Nigeria is on his own. Everybody for himself and God for us all, survival of the fittest and the devil takes the hindermost, yet we are hearing no voices from the Ulamas, from the mallams from the Sheikhs. Its inordinate silence.”
Mahdi who also described the Buhari administration as a total disaster chided the Islamic clerics for not holding the Tinubu led administration to account despite having promoted the idea that brought him to power.
