Casualties Mount in Ongoing Israel-Hamas Conflict

It’s the fourth day since the Hamas surprise attack on Israel and the battle is as hot as ever. So far, more than 1000 deaths of Israelis have been estimated. It is speculated that the total number of Israeli hostages in Gaza is 150. Meanwhile, Hamas has said there will be no negotiation to free the hostages until the ‘end of the battle’.

In the aftermath, Israel whose mission is to “obliterate Hamas terrorist capabilities” has fired several airstrikes on Gaza, the 140 square-mile densely populated territory controlled by Hamas. As a result, at least 765 people Palestinians have died, with 4,000 wounded and more than 137,000 displaced.

As of now, more than 100 bodies have been discovered in Kibbutz Be’eri, a community near Gaza. Foreign citizens of the US, UK, France, Germany, and Thailand have also been reported dead.

As the battles wear on, Israel is trying to intercept rockets fired from Gaza with their Iron Dome defense system. CNN correspondent in Gaza, Ibrahim Dahman says Hamas has warned residents of the Southern Israeli city of Ashkelon to evacuate before 5 p.m. local time.
