Tottenham Hotspur will take action against racial slur directed at Destiny Udogie

—

Tottenham Hotspur have released a statement on their Facebook page about their Italian left back, Destiny Udogie, following the racial messages he has been receiving since their narrow victory against 9-man Liverpool on Sunday evening.

Liverpool’s midfielder was shown a red card in the first half of the game for a horrible tackle on Yves Bissouma. In the second, an unfortunate Diogo Jota received another red card after two yellow cards.

“We are disgusted at the racist messages directed towards Destiny Udogie on social media following Saturday’s game against Liverpool.

We will work with the Premier League and, where possible, take action against any individual we can identify.

We stand with you, Destiny.”

There have been many controversial statements since PGMOL admitted to having made a human error in not awarding Luiz Diaz’s goal for Liverpool in the first half.

Destiny Udogie who has been pivotal for Tottenham this season, joined Tottenham from Udinese this summer. He has been capped in every game Tottenham have played this season – helping the team retain their unbeaten run alongside Arsenal as the only two sides yet to face defeat.
