Good morning! In today’s trending news stories;

1. After a 4-hour meeting between the federal government and Labour leaders on Sunday, October 1, President Bola Tinubu approved a N35,000 provisional wage increment for workers of all levels which will last for six months. According to Dada Olusegun, the president’s special assistant on social media, “The Federal Government will commence payment of N75,000 to 15 million households at N25,000 per month, for a three-month period from October-December 2023.”

2. Meanwhile, Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, in a trending video passively challenged President Bol Tinubu’s resolve to hinder access to his academic records at the Chicago State University. He claimed anybody could have access to his records, noting his credibility as a person.

3. Remi Tinubu in her address at the interdenominational church service to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary, stated that her husband, Bola Tinubu “is not a magician.” She reckoned that his administration was not to be blamed for the current challenges facing the country. She noted that the issues on ground were inherited over time and would take time to resolve.

4. BUA Cement has announced that starting from today, 2nd October, its cement will set at N3500 per bag. The announcement comes weeks after the company’s chairman Abdul Samad in a meeting with the President, promised to review the prices of the product.

5. The Russia-Ukraine conflict is still hot as ever as Oleksandr Prokudin, Governor of Ukraine‘s southern region of Kherson took to Telegram to announce that Russian forces had launched 71 attacks in the past 24 hours, “aimed at the residential districts.” The situation is intense as Russian casualties near 250 victims in a day.

6. The people of Araromi-Okeodo, a community in Ife-South LGA, Osun State rejoices as their community see electricity for the first time in 91 years.The project was funded by the partnership of Sholep energy Limited, Engr Olalekan, the World Bank and the Rural Electrification Agency, REA of the Federal Government. The off-grid power plant will supply over 700 houses with a 24-hour uninterrupted power supply and durable water supply free of charge.

7.  22 year-old native of Kogi State, Ilebaye Odiniya, has set a record by being the youngest contestant to win the prize money in the most watched reality TV show in Nigeria.
