Akwa Ibom Police Orders Investigation Into Deeper Life High School Sexual Assault Incident

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it has commenced an investigation into claims by an 11-year-old student of Deeper Life High School, Idoro Road, Uyo, of alleged sexual assault and starvation in the school.

Late last year, a video surfaced online showing the 11-year-old boy, Don-Davis Iniobong Archibong, narrating his ugly experience in the hands of some students and lack of concern by the school authorities.

Following the incident, Don Davis’ parents had filed a suit in court alleging that one Shalom Omoniyi and another student Ola engaged in sexual molestation of their son and also oppressed him because he bed-wets at night.

Speaking to newsmen in Uyo on Tuesday, the Akwaibom Commissioner of Police, CP Andrew Amiengheme said the Command is in receipt of a petition by the mother of the allegedly assaulted boy.

“We are in receipt of a petition by one Mrs Deborah Archibong, aged 41yrs, mother of one Don-Davis Iniobong Archibong, aged 11yrs, a student of Deeper Life High School, Idoro Road, Uyo.

“In the petition filed against one Mrs Ndidi Solomon, aged 45yrs and three others, she alleged that her son, Master Don-Davis Iniobong was inhumanly treated, sexually molested and suffered starvation.

“The command has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter and the said investigation has commenced immediately,” he said.

The CP, while enjoining all parties involved to exercise restraint pending the outcome of the investigation, assured the people of Akwa Ibom State that no stone will be left unturned in unraveling the truth, promising that the outcome of the investigation will be made known to the general public.
