NSCDC partners JAMB in Anambra for UTME exams security.

—

Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has expressed readiness to work with the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to ensure adequate security during and after the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the State.

The Anambra State NSCDC Commandant David Bille stated this today when he paid a familiarisation visit to the management of JAMB in Anambra State.

According to Commandant Bille, the collaboration is to help curtail examination malpractice during the examination and to clamp down on all illegal registration centres and syndicates exploiting candidates for the exams.

“We appreciate the synergy between NSCDC and JAMB which had been long-standing. The Command has officers and men who are well trained to effectively discharge their task. We have also continued to retrain them to keep them abreast of the latest trends in the business of security. Providing security for JAMB as a national institution is our responsibility. NSCDC is committed to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure to be used for the examination and maintenance of law and order during the exercise,” he said.

Bille also reiterated the determination of the State Command to partner with other relevant agencies in ensuring that it realizes its mandate in the state.

In his remarks, the Anambra State JAMB Coordinator Mr. Cyril Mozie commended the NSCDC for the existing partnership between the Corps and JAMB, applauding the discipline and tactical display of efficiency by Officers and Men of the Corps in previous examinations.

Mozie solicited the continued support of the NSCDC towards ensuring that examination malpractice and corruption are eradicated in the conduct of the UTME across the Federation.

Mozie said, “It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we institutionalize a working education system in the country and that is why I appreciate the efforts of the NSCDC over the years. This is critical for us and we urge that this partnership continues.”
