80-Year-Old Man Takes Own Life In Lagos

Reports have it that an 80-year-old man, identified as Isiyaka Ayinde, has reportedly killed himself at the Watch Tower in the Araromi Imota area of Lagos State.

 

It was learnt that the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday 7th March.

The deceased body was discovered by his landlord’s children who swiftly alerted their father that the deceased who they referred to as Baba was found dangling from a rope tied to the burglary proof of one of the windows in the kitchen.

According to a police source, a tenant in the compound, revealed that the deceased hung himself with a loop in the kitchen.

 

The source noted further; “He heard his children shouting that he should come and see Baba in the kitchen. When he ran into the kitchen, he saw the lifeless body of the tenant hanging on a rope that was tied to the burglary proof of one of the windows in the kitchen.”

Meantime, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, also confirmed the incident to journalists.

 

Meanwhile, the landlord identified as Mustapha immediately reported the matter to the police where it was said that the police investigators visited the scene and took photos.

 

Alarmed by the sad incident, the family of the deceased insisted that his body should be buried immediately because of his age and according to Islamic rites.
