2027: Tinubu Not Easy to Beat, ADC Must Turn Northern Anger Into Votes— Momodu

A chieftain of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has urged the party to tap into growing public discontent with the administration of President Bola Tinubu as it positions itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in an interview with AriseNews, monitored by The News Chronicle, Momodu said the ADC must strategically align with segments of the country that feel dissatisfied with the current government if it hopes to mount a credible challenge.

He also threw his weight behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a strong contender for the party’s presidential ticket, describing him as one of the most experienced politicians in the country.

Momodu cautioned that defeating Tinubu would not be straightforward, noting that the president remains a formidable opponent with significant resources and political structures at his disposal. He stressed that the ADC must adopt a calculated and tactical approach to stand any chance of victory.

“You cannot compete with Tinubu when it comes to resources and structures. That is why the ADC has to be technical in defeating him,” he said.

On the issue of zoning and regional politics, Momodu argued that any perceived disadvantage facing a northern candidate against a southern incumbent is not grounded in constitutional provisions, but rather political considerations.
