Former Vice President and 2027 presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday held talks with representatives of United States Congressman Riley Moore over concerns about election integrity and worsening security challenges in Nigeria.
The meeting was disclosed in a statement issued by Washington D.C.-based lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., which represents Atiku Abubakar in the United States.
According to the statement obtained by The News Chronicle, discussions focused on the need to safeguard Nigerians’ rights to free and fair elections and ensure the emergence of leaders capable of tackling insecurity across the country.
“We are pleased to announce that earlier today, representatives of Congressman Riley Moore and former Nigerian Vice President Atiku met to discuss the importance of protecting every Nigerian’s right to a free and fair election in order to enable Nigerians to elect leaders willing and able to resolve the security issues facing all Nigerians,” the statement read.
It added that the meeting was productive and centered on election integrity, peace, and long-term political stability in Nigeria.
The development comes amid Atiku’s growing political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election, following reports that the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has submitted his presidential nomination forms.
Atiku also renewed his call on Nigerians to support efforts aimed at rebuilding the country and restoring what he described as the nation’s “good old days.”
