2026 Grammys: Five Nigerians Make the List – Full Details

Several Nigerian artists have been named among the nominees for the 68th Grammy Awards, scheduled to take place on 1 February 2026 in Los Angeles, United States.

The Recording Academy released the full nomination list on 7 November 2025.

Burna Boy received two nominations. His song “Love” is listed for Best African Music Performance, while his album No Sign of Weakness is nominated for Best Global Music Album.

Davido appears in the Best African Music Performance category with “With You”, which features fellow Nigerian artist Omah Lay.

The same category includes “Gimme Dat” by Ayra Starr, featuring Wizkid, giving both artists a nomination. South African singer Tyla and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, in collaboration with Mehran Matin, complete the category.

In total, five Nigerian acts are recognised across the nominations, either as lead artists or featured performers.

In the major award fields, Kendrick Lamar leads with nine nominations, including Album of the Year for GNX. Lady Gaga follows with seven nominations. Other nominees in the top categories include Billie Eilish, Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, Rosé & Bruno Mars, and Clipse.

This year’s edition introduces two new categories: Best Album Cover and Best Traditional Country Album. Another change sees the former Best Country Album category renamed to Best Contemporary Country Album.

According to the organisers, more than 23,000 entries were submitted for the 2026 awards, with 1,015 submissions competing for Song of the Year, the largest field. The smallest category was Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, which received 48 entries.

The final round of voting will take place from 12 December 2025 to 5 January 2026, ahead of the awards ceremony.
