History was recorded on Monday as the first batch of the 2026 Borno State Christian Pilgrimage arrived safely in Amman, Jordan, marking the commencement of the pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
The pilgrims, numbering 230, were fully sponsored by Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, mni, in a move widely described as a demonstration of inclusive, people-oriented governance.
The sponsorship underscores Governor Zulum’s commitment to unity, religious tolerance, and equal opportunities for all citizens of the state, regardless of religious affiliation.
By facilitating the pilgrimage at the beginning of the year, the Borno State Government aims to further promote peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among diverse communities.
Members of the pilgrimage expressed deep appreciation to the governor for what they described as a rare and commendable gesture of goodwill.
They noted that the support has strengthened confidence in government and reinforced the spirit of harmony in the state.
The pilgrims also expressed hope that future administrations would sustain and expand the initiative, ensuring continuous support for religious inclusion and spiritual development across all faiths in Borno State.
