184 students achieve First Class honors as Bauchi State University graduates 7,026 students

At Bauchi State University, Gadau, a total of 184 students have graduated with First Class degrees out of 7,026 graduands. 

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Fatima Tahir, shared this information during a press conference ahead of the university’s first combined convocation scheduled for Saturday.

Professor Tahir revealed that the university commenced full academic activities in the 2011/2012 session. Among the graduates, 3,593 students achieved second class upper division.

Additionally, the university conferred degrees on 484 postgraduates in various programs, including Postgraduate Diploma (119), Professional Masters (193), Academic Masters (193), and 19 PhDs.

Established in 2009 by the Bauchi State House of Assembly Act, the university aims to contribute to educational development and sustainable growth in the state and beyond.

Professor Tahir credited the university’s success to the dedicated efforts of young and qualified individuals within the university community.

Emphasizing the university’s role as a learning center for personal and national development, she outlined the convocation activities, including the commissioning of the Central Library Complex funded by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the flagging off of a state government road construction project.

Governor Bala Mohammed, the university’s visitor, is set to commission the faculty of Science Phase 1.

The convocation will also feature a lecture by Professor Attahiru Jega, the immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to be chaired by Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government.

In adherence to the longstanding tradition of the university, honorary degrees will be granted to individuals who have made substantial contributions to both national development and humanity at large.

Noteworthy among the recipients of this prestigious honor is Governor Bala Mohammed, who is poised to be recognized for his significant contributions to the betterment of society and the nation.
