Zulum okays food aid for 100,000 needy families in MMC and Jere

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has given his approval for the distribution of food aid to more than 100,000 families living in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and Jere Local Government Area.

He wants to help families who are struggling to buy food because prices are going up and the economy is not doing well.

Governor Zulum made this decision during a meeting with local leaders, where he promised to take care of the people’s needs, especially those who are finding it hard to afford food and other important things.

He said, “I have agreed to give food aid to 100,000 families in MMC and Jere Local Government Area to help them during this difficult time. We will start giving out the aid very soon. We will begin with the wards in the main part of the city, like Shehuri North and South, Feezan, Hausari, Gamboru, and Mafoni. Each ward will have at least 4000 families who need help.”

Governor Zulum wants to make sure that the food aid is given out fairly and honestly so that it reaches the families who need it the most.

He also announced that food aid will be given to seven other Local Government Areas in the southern part of the state, including Biu, Hawul, Shani, Kwaya Kusar, Askira-Uba, Chibok, and Bayo.

The governor explained that his government has been regularly giving out money and food to areas affected by the Boko Haram violence to help people live better lives and to stop vulnerable people from joining the terrorists.

Since last November, around 187,454 families from Dikwa, Ngala, and Bama Local Government Areas have received food aid and over N0.6 billion in cash.

Governor Zulum said that the food aid in southern Borno will start in Biu in the next few weeks.

He wants to help communities that are starting to have peace again and where people can work and earn money for themselves. He also said that even though they are working on farming, they need to help families who are struggling right now.
