Zulum and Qatari Ambassador Convene to Provide Assistance to 1,000 Orphans in Borno

—

The Qatari government recently unveiled plans to provide significant support to over 1,000 orphans affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State, Nigeria.
This announcement was made during a meeting between the Qatari ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Ali Bn Ghanem Al-Hajari, and the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, held at the Government House in Maiduguri.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Hajari pledged essential assistance for approximately 1,000 orphans in Borno State, emphasizing Qatar’s commitment to supporting the region.
Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new primary school in Maiduguri, aligning with the government’s efforts to create a conducive learning environment.
Governor Zulum expressed gratitude for Qatar’s support and assured the ambassador of providing an enabling environment for the initiatives.
Notably, this support builds upon previous efforts, as Governor Zulum had earlier laid the foundation stone for the construction of an orphanage center, a project undertaken by the Qatar Charity Organization.
Accompanying the ambassador during the visit were his assistant, Mr. Abdullah Hilal Alnuimi, and the Country Director of Qatar Charity, Hamdi Abdou.
Their presence underscores the collaborative efforts between Qatar and Nigeria in addressing the challenges faced by those affected by the Boko Haram insurgency, particularly vulnerable children who have lost their families.
