Zone 7 Police Command Arrests Suspects in Major Crime Bust in FCT and Niger State

The Zone 7 Police Command Headquarters, which oversees the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State Police Command, has arrested four suspects involved in various criminal activities, on Tuesday.

The suspects, identified as Solomon Nuhu (22), Faruk Umar (17), Bolaji Yusuf (34), and Lawal Yusuf (38), have been linked to crimes including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, possession of stolen vehicles, and unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm.

The arrests were made by police detectives from the Special Investigation Squad at Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja.

Acting on credible intelligence, the detectives apprehended Haruna Akubo, also known as Young Alhaji, and recovered five suspected stolen vehicles from L.Y Nadabo Motors located opposite One Man Village Shopping Center in Karu Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State.

Additionally, two other suspects, Bolaji Yusuf and Abubakar Umar, were arrested at Heart Plaza, Maraba. During the arrest, two vehicle master keys, three stolen phones, and a bunch of car keys were found in Bolaji’s possession.

Further investigations led to the recovery of thirty-two mobile phones of different makes and a 9mm Beretta pistol with live ammunition from Faruk Umar.

The Beretta pistol was traced back to Solomon Nuhu, who claimed to have purchased it from Faruk Umar for N130,000.

The investigation extended to Ankpa LGA in Kogi State, where detectives recovered five more vehicles, including a Lexus IS 250.

The owner of the Lexus was reportedly killed during the vehicle’s theft, with the suspected killer, Ibrahim Umar, also known as Godiya, still at large.

The police recovered ten vehicles of different brands, all with altered chassis numbers. Additional items seized include a fabricated Beretta pistol with one live ammunition, three laptops of various makes, one LG television set, thirty-two mobile phones of different makes, fabricated car master keys, two POS machines, thirteen used SIM cards, fourteen packs of SIM cards, and other phone accessories.

Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Ogundele J. Ayodeji, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case. The suspects will be charged in court upon the investigation’s conclusion.
