Zamfara Goes Digital, Revamps Secretariat for Faster Service

The Zamfara State Government has rolled out modern e-governance facilities aimed at sharpening efficiency and boosting productivity across the public service.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Suleman Tudu, Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in Gusau.

Speaking during an inspection of the final phase of the upgraded 30-year-old Jibrin Bala (JB) Yakubu Secretariat complex, the SSG, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, said the facelift signalled a new dawn for service delivery in the state.

He explained that the revamped secretariat, now equipped with solar-powered systems and internet (Wi-Fi) connectivity, positions the government to run a faster, smarter and more efficient e-governance framework.

Nakwada noted that the third and final phase of the renovation has been completed and will soon be opened for use in line with the state government’s implementation plan.

According to him, the renovation project handled by Sources Plus Nigeria Limited has reached 100 per cent completion, with furniture installation currently ongoing in Phase III of the complex, which is expected to be occupied in the coming weeks.

“The SSG expressed confidence in the timeline, while urging the contractor to address some minor observations to ensure standards.”

Governor Dauda Lawal had earlier inaugurated the first and second phases of the project, which are already fully functional, powered by solar energy and supported with Wi-Fi connectivity—features that have significantly improved service delivery.

For decades, the secretariat complex, home to key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), had suffered neglect, having gone without renovation since its construction over 30 years ago.

The government said the newly modernised office environment would give civil servants a more conducive workspace, oil the wheels of productivity and ultimately translate to better services for the people of Zamfara State.
