Zamfara First Lady Warns Women to Act Fast Against Cancer

Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Lawal, has emphasized that early detection remains the most effective approach to managing and reducing the burden of cancer, particularly among women.

We gathered that in her message marking the 2025 World Breast Cancer Day, Lawal reiterated her unwavering commitment to cancer prevention and awareness, urging women to take proactive steps in safeguarding their health.

“As women, we must care for ourselves and one another. For those battling with cancer, let us stand with them in love, strength and hope.

“Together, we can build a future where no one faces cancer alone.

Behind every cancer diagnosis is a face, a name, and a life that deserves care and dignity,” she stated.

She encouraged women to undergo regular health screenings and actively participate in initiatives that foster awareness, early detection, and effective treatment of cancer.

Lawal also praised the resilience and courage of Zamfara women in their pursuit of good health, assuring them of her continued advocacy for improved cancer prevention, awareness, and access to quality healthcare services.

Hajiya Lawal currently serves as the National Secretary of the First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) — a coalition of Nigerian governors’ wives committed to the fight against cancer through advocacy, policy reform, and community-based interventions.
