YouTube Restricts Video Recommendations For Teenagers

—

YouTube, owned by Google is making rules to stop showing certain videos to teenagers repeatedly.
These videos are about sensitive topics like how their bodies look. The video streaming platform announced this on Thursday night.
The idea behind this restriction is to avoid videos that make people compare their bodies or promote unhealthy stuff or being mean to others.
Some experts who know about young people and families are supporting these rules to keep teens safe.
According to medical researcher, Allison Briscoe-Smith, watching too many videos that show unrealistic body standards or bad behaviors can make teenagers feel bad about themselves.
YouTube said the ban is already been implemented in the United States, and they will be in more countries soon.
This is happening because people are worried that social media is affecting how kids feel.
Already, Meta, parent company to Instagram and Facebook is in trouble and facing a lawsuit because some U.S. states say their apps are addictive and they refused to tell the truth about the problems they can cause for young people.
