Your Village Is Following You — The News Chronicle to Host Conversation on Identity

The News Chronicle will host a Podcast conversation on Thursday examining how people remain connected to their communities and cultural roots even after leaving their places of origin.

The programme, titled “How Your Village Is Following You: Mobility, Memory, and the Mediated Persistence of Belonging,” will explore the relationship between movement, memory and identity, with particular attention to how people carry elements of their backgrounds with them as they navigate new environments.

The conversation will be hosted by Professor Jideofor Adibe, with Professor Abiodun Adeniyi, Vice Chancellor, Baze University, Abuja, as the guest.

The discussion is expected to examine how personal memories, cultural experiences and modern media continue to influence people’s sense of belonging, even when physical distance separates them from their communities.

The programme is scheduled to hold at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and will be streamed live on The News Chronicle’s social media platforms.
