Delta State Governor’s aide and social commentator, Ossai Ovie Success, has taken a swipe at popular Nigerian musician, Timaya, over his recent remarks discouraging men from pursuing women.
Timaya, in a viral post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, declared that “any man that runs after a woman is an idiot,” a statement that has sparked debate across social media platforms.
Reacting in a strongly worded Facebook post, Ossai did not mince words as he questioned the musician’s moral standing to dish out such advice, recalling Timaya’s own emotional past.
“I am disappointed in Timaya for advising men not to run after women,” he wrote.
Bringing up events from nearly two decades ago, Ossai referenced Timaya’s former relationship with actress Empress Njamah, describing the singer’s actions at the time as those of someone hopelessly in love.
“Timaya was running after Empress Njamah in 2008 like a madman in love, even after she broke his heart.
He bought everything for her and got beaten in church, crying because she broke up with him,” he recounted.
The political aide expressed shock that the same man who once wore his heart on his sleeve was now condemning such behavior.
“Today, the same Timaya has the boldness to say any man who runs after a woman is an idiot!
Wow, Timaya, please clap for yourself,” he wrote sarcastically.
Continuing his criticism, Ossai described the advice as “useless” and rooted in hypocrisy, asserting that it lacked credibility.
“What useless advice from someone who was crying after a woman. You got the advice from a madman. I am disappointed in you,” he concluded.
