Yobe tricycle operator rewarded with N1 million for returning N9 million

—

Ali Bulama, a tricycle rider who hails from Jumbam village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State, has been recognized and rewarded with a sum of N100,000 for his remarkable act of honesty and conscientiousness.

This commendable incident unfolded when Bulama, 35 years old, discovered and promptly returned the substantial sum of N9,000,000 (nine million naira) to its rightful owner.

The narrative began on a fateful evening when a resident of Maiduguri boarded Bulama’s tricycle in Jumbam at approximately 9:30 pm on November 17. Unbeknownst to Bulama, the passenger’s sack containing a considerable amount of money was left behind in the tricycle after disembarking.

It wasn’t until around 11:30 pm, after Bulama had dropped off the passenger and returned home, that he noticed the forgotten sack in his tricycle.

Realizing its valuable contents, which had already become the talk of the village due to the missing N9 million, Bulama wasted no time in launching a search for the owner.

With the assistance of some locals, Bulama successfully located the owner of the money and promptly handed it over.

The owner, grateful for Bulama’s honesty, expressed his appreciation by giving the tricycle operator N20,000 as a token of gratitude.

The heartening tale of Bulama’s integrity did not go unnoticed. Alhaji Maisandari Lawan, Chairman of the Yobe Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, took it upon himself to recognize and reward Bulama for his exemplary conduct.

In a ceremony, Bulama was presented with a certificate of honor and a cash prize of N100,000. Alhaji Maisandari Lawan commended Bulama for his honesty and admirable commitment to ethical principles, highlighting his fear of God as a guiding force in this virtuous act.

This incident stands as a shining example of the impact that individual integrity and moral fortitude can have on a community, reinforcing the values of honesty and conscientiousness.

Ali Bulama’s story serves as an inspiration, underscoring the importance of upholding principles even in the face of temptation and societal pressure.
