Yobe Govt Distributes 3,500 Laptops to Civil Servants to Drive Digital Transformation

—

The Yobe State Government has commenced the distribution of 3,500 laptops to civil servants across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as part of efforts to enhance productivity and accelerate digital transformation in the state public service.

The initiative, implemented through a loan-based scheme, was officially flagged off by the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, who described the programme as a major milestone in the government’s commitment to building a modern, efficient, and technology-driven workforce.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare, Shuaibu Ibrahim Amshi, the Head of Service said access to digital tools is critical to improving service delivery, strengthening communication, and enabling civil servants to perform their duties more effectively in an increasingly digital world.

He explained that the loan-based arrangement was designed to ensure wider access to the laptops while promoting accountability and responsible use of public resources.

According to him, the programme represents more than the distribution of equipment, describing it as a strategic investment in human capital aimed at equipping civil servants with the skills and tools required for modern governance.

The Head of Service also expressed gratitude to Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and other stakeholders whose support made the initiative possible. He congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to make effective use of the laptops to improve their productivity.

The ceremony concluded with the formal distribution of the laptops, marking another step towards a more responsive, transparent, and digitally enabled public service in Yobe State.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mohammed Bagare thanked Governor Buni for his continued commitment to the welfare of civil servants in the state.

The statement was issued by Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Deputy Director of Information, Office of the Head of Service, on June 23, 2026.
