Yobe community attacked; 1 dead, houses burned by suspected herdsmen

—

In Gurjaja village, which is in Yobe State, there was a bad event. Some people, believed to be Fulani herdsmen hurt one person and destroyed more than 100 houses.

This happened because earlier, the Fulani herdsmen hurt three people from Gurjaja village. So, the people from the village got angry and hurt two Fulani herdsmen in return.

After this, the Fulani herdsmen came back and burned the whole village. This made the people in the village run away to other nearby towns and villages.

The Fulani people came at night, burned the houses, and destroyed the farmers’ crops.

Someone who didn’t want their name said that many Fulani people came from different places and attacked Gurjaja village. They killed one person named Abubakar Usman and burned many houses and food.

Another person named Mallam Abubakar Ustaz saw this happen and said that many Fulani people came at night and attacked Gurjaja village. They burned houses and food.

The police heard about this and sent many police officers to Gurjaja village to stop any more fighting and keep things peaceful.
