The Yankari Express Corporation in Bauchi State has rejected a viral social media video claiming that one of its vehicles was used to transport bandits.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the General Manager, Engr. Babaji Yunusa, said the allegations were false, misleading and did not reflect what actually happened.
The viral video alleged that a Yankari Express vehicle carrying a passenger dressed in charm-covered clothing was intercepted in Kano for transporting bandits and smuggling weapons.
Yunusa explained that the situation was completely misrepresented. The vehicle was on a Sokoto–Kano route when some passengers became suspicious of one traveler who wore protective charms.
They alerted security agents, who invited everyone for questioning and impounded the vehicle for routine checks.
He added that Yankari Express has two types of vehicles: company-owned and leased. The vehicle seen in the video, though painted in the company’s colours, had no number plate or the official certification sticker that identifies verified members of its fleet.
