Barcelona’s head coach, Xavi Hernandez, has opted to continue leading the team for the upcoming season, despite previously indicating his intention to step down after the current season.
Following discussions with the club’s president and director, it has been agreed that Xavi will remain in his rolez according to Fabrizio Romano.
In January, Xavi announced his decision to leave during a press conference, citing a desire to be a solution for Barcelona and acknowledging the need for a change in direction.
“I had taken days ago but today was the moment to announce it.”
“I don’t want to be a problem. I want to be a solution for Barça as I was two years ago.” Xavi, a Barça legend as a player, knows FC Barcelona better than anyone and is convinced that the team need now “a change in direction.”
“Takes the tension out of the situation and gives the dressing room, the staff and the club a bit of room to change the dynamic.”
“In these four months I will give everything. I’ll try to give my all to try and win the league. I still think we can do it.”
To conclude, he confessed that even if the team does win a trophy, “the decision is made and it can’t be changed.”
Despite recent setbacks in the team’s performance, including exits from the Champions League and a defeat in El Clasico, Xavi’s decision to stay comes after guiding Barcelona to victory in La Liga Santander in his first season as head coach.
