Xavi speaks of bittersweet taste after Barcelona drop more points at Sevilla

—

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has said that his side is now close to the team he wants despite playing a 1-1 draw at Sevilla on Tuesday.

Barcelona failed to capitalize on the opportunity of moving to fourth on the Laliga table despite playing with 10 men Sevilla’s side.

Speaking after the game, Xavi who faulted his opponents’ frustrating style of play, noted that his side deserved all three points.

Xavi said: “We deserved to win. We have played how we want to play, with personality, pressure and a high ball circulation. This is a difficult ground, but we have competed very well.”

“There are things to improve, of course, but I am proud of the team because we are on the right track.”

“I leave with a bittersweet taste, the image and the game have been good, we have to improve certain things in the game, when we are with one more we must be more patient, but we are on the right track. The negative thing about today is the result.”

“Sevilla have known how to pause the game with fouls… They are an experienced team and they’re very good tactically.”

“This is close to the Barça that I want.”

“We have lacked patience but we have been very good. Dembélé has been very good.”

“If Dembélé’s shot went in, we would be talking about a phenomenal game.”

“I don’t think we lack the ability to score goals. It’s more about understanding, maturity.”
