X Experiences Major Outage As Users Struggle to View Timelines

Social media giant Twitter, now referred to as X, faced a widespread outage impacting users across mobile apps and web versions. For over an hour, individuals encountered frozen timelines or a placeholder message, hindering their ability to access content.

Despite being able to post, the posts vanished upon refresh, while notifications continued to appear for new content and followed accounts. Notably, even high-profile accounts like Elon Musk’s were affected, rendering their content inaccessible.

The cause of this disruption remains a mystery, with reports first surfacing around 12:30 AM ET on DownDetector. This outage follows recent disturbances, including last week’s link issues.

Seeking clarification from the platform’s PR account proved challenging, receiving only automated responses. With 70,000 reports on Downdetector and no official statement or cause disclosed, concerns about the platform’s stability linger.

Previous downtimes in March and July, which affected over 13,000 users, included messages citing “rate-limited” access during those periods.

Despite the outage, an engaging discussion hosted on a Space by a reporter drew over 800 participants, showcasing user resilience amidst technical difficulties.
