Workers reject government’s N10,000 wage award, sparking drama

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Jigawa State have said “no” to the idea of getting paid N10,000 more.

They did not agree with the government’s plan. This decision came after a meeting in Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa State.

The leaders of NLC and TUC in Jigawa State wrote a letter saying the government should wait before deciding on the extra N10,000. They said they had not talked enough about it to agree or disagree.

They also mentioned that the talks between NLC and the government committee had not been successful. They said the government did not give a clear answer to the things they asked for.

The Labour leaders were surprised when they heard the Commissioner for Information, Youth, and Culture saying that the government would give N10,000 more for three months.

They wanted to make it clear that they had not agreed to anything yet. They said the negotiation committee was still working on it.

But the Head of Service, Muhammad K. Dagacire, said that the NLC negotiation committee knew about the government’s decision.

He explained that the government wanted to help the workers by giving them extra money for three months, giving them food, and helping them with farming.

He said it was strange to hear that NLC did not agree with the N10,000 proposal. He assured everyone that the government would do what it said it would. Governor Malam Umar Namadi was determined to help the workers.
