24-Year-Old Woman Stabs Man To Death In Kano For Alleged Attempt To Stop Her From Committing Suicide
One Nafiu Hafiz of Unguwa Uku in Tauranin Local Government Area of Kano state, has been confirmed death by the Kano state police command.
In a statement, spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed the incident to newsmen on Friday, December 22, 2023, said Hafsat confessed that she stabbed the deceased severally on different parts of his body with a knife while he was trying to stop her from taking her own life.
Haruna revealed that the woman’s husband, Dayyabu Abdullahi, and their security man, Mallam Adam, were apprehended for packaging and concealing body of the deceased.
The statement reads in parts; “On 21/12/2023 at about 0700hrs, report was received from one Hafizu Salisu of Bauchi Metropolis of Bauchi State that he received a phone call from one Dayyabu Abdullahi ‘m’ of Unguwa Uku Quarters Kano that his brother one Nafi’u Hafiz, aged 38 years, is dead and that they should come and convey the corpse for burial”.
The police spokesman stated that when their men arrived at the residence at Unguwa Uku Quarters in Kano, they discovered several injuries on different parts of the lifeless body suspected to be knife cuts sustained from stabbing.
He noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc has directed the Divisional Police Officer, Zaria Road Division, SP Abubakar Chika Zaki, to lead a team of detectives to carry out a preliminary investigation on the matter.
Haruna added that upon arrival at the crime scene the detectives discovered that the motionless body was removed from the scene and rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where a Medical Personnel confirmed the body of the victim dead.
He stated further that investigation led to the arrest of a 24-year -old, housewife, Hasfat Surajo, of the residence where the deceased resided.
It was gathered that further investigation at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, obtained a confession by Hafsat who admitted to have singlehandedly committed the crime by stabbing the deceased who attempted to stop her from committing suicide.
