Wike Reveals Infrastructure as APC’s Winning Campaign Strategy for 2027 Election

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the All Progressives Congress-led administration will campaign for the 2027 general elections with completed infrastructure projects rather than political promises.

Wike stated this on Wednesday after inspecting the ongoing construction of the full-scope development of Road N16, linking Ring Road II to Ring Road III, and the 7.3-kilometre Tungan Madaki–Zuba road in Abuja.

The minister said the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory would serve as the administration’s strongest campaign message ahead of the next general election.

According to him, good governance and the provision of tangible dividends of democracy remain the most effective way to earn the confidence and support of the electorate.

“What is a campaign? For me, this is the campaign. In fact, the major campaign is to provide the dividends of democracy.

“What are you going to tell the people when you have nothing to show? For me, the campaign is to show what you have done,” Wike said.

He noted that the completion of ongoing projects would strengthen the ruling party’s position ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that the administration remained focused on fulfilling its promises despite political distractions.

“The delivery of projects is not going to affect us at all, whether in Rivers or in the FCT,” he said.

Speaking on the progress of the projects, Wike disclosed that the Road N16 project connecting Ring Road II and Ring Road III would be completed by January, saying the road would significantly improve connectivity between Jahi and Gwarinpa while easing traffic congestion and boosting commercial activities.

He added that the Tungan Madaki–Zuba road was expected to be completed before the end of December.

To ensure timely completion of the project, the minister approved the immediate relocation of utility poles along the Tungan Madaki–Zuba corridor to pave the way for the installation of modern streetlights.

He said the two road projects would help decongest major traffic corridors and unlock new economic opportunities within the Federal Capital Territory.

Wike also commended the construction companies handling the projects, particularly the Chinese firms, for commencing work without waiting for mobilisation funds from the government.

“What has given us happiness with these companies is that they never wait for mobilisation. They will go ahead and start working. “They know that the government will pay, and we don’t want to take it for granted,” he said.

The minister reiterated the commitment of the Federal Capital Territory Administration to ensuring prompt payment to contractors to sustain the pace of infrastructure development across the nation’s capital.
