The United State is mourning the demise of former first lady Rosalynn Carter who reportedly died on Sunday 19th November 2023. The 96 year old passed on peacefully with her family after treating dementia and suffering several weeks of deteriorating health.
In a statement by the family, the 39th president of the United State Jimmy Carter said that the deceased entered Hospice on Friday the 17th of November 2023 and that she was diagnose of dementia in May. The widowed former president revealed that he began home hospice care in February, following a series of hospital stays.
US First Lady, Jill Biden eulogized the former First Lady during a service telling members and their families at a Naval Station Norfolk holiday event, as saying “The former first lady Rosalynn Carter has just passed. And she was well known for her efforts on mental health and caregiving and women’s rights. And so I hope that during the holidays you’ll … include the Carter family in your prayers”.
In a remark, President Joe Biden while addressing reporters, stated that the Carter’s family is an incredible one because of the grace they brought the office. Also commenting, Former President George W. Bush and former first lady Laura Bush described Rosalynn Carter as woman of dignity and strength.
In a joint statement the couple stated further; “There was no greater advocate of President Carter, and their partnership set a wonderful example of loyalty and fidelity. She leaves behind an important legacy in her work to de-stigmatize mental health. We join our fellow citizens in sending our condolences to President Carter and their family
