Wife Seeks Justice Over Death Of Husband Stabbed By A Soldier In Rivers

The Rivers state police command has confirmed the killing of a club bouncer allegedly stabbed to death at a nightclub in Bonny Island, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, by a yet-to-be identified soldier.

Sources say that the trouble started when the bouncer named Kingsley Abbey, allegedly found a dagger on the soldier when he was carrying out a routine check at the entrance of the club on Monday night, December 11, 2023.

Noticing that, the deceased denied the soldier access into the club. A situation that resulted to an altercation that reportedly led the soldier to reach for the dagger and stabbed the father of four to death.

Reacting to the incident, wife of the victim, Diepreye Abbey, stated that after she received news of her husband’s death, she started moving from one hospital to the other and eventually found him dead.

“We were checking all the hospitals to find out where they kept him but we didn’t see him. At last, there is a place called Macurly that is where I found him. When I got there my husband was already dead.

“I started crying and I asked what happened. They now told me that a uniformed man came to the club where he was working.

“As he was searching him, checking him all around, he said you cannot enter. From there the problem started. They said the man stabbed him.

“I need justice for my husband. I have four children. Who will train them? I’m not working for now. I need justice.” She lamented.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko said that investigation had begun to ascertain what transpired and to also identify the person behind the killing.
