President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, lamented yesterday that wickedness has taken over the country with people unnecessarily painting white as black.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service at the First Baptist Church, Warri, Delta State, to mark Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s 60th birthday, Pastor Oritsejafor noted that “there is wickedness in our land. People do things with impunity. They call white black. They put appellation on a man portraying him as being wicked.”
Oritsejafor’s sermon was apparently in reaction to his alleged involvement in the botched Federal Government arms deal with South Africa where his personal aircraft was used, a development that generated a lot of controversies in the country.
The venue of the thanksgiving provided the first open opportunity to clear his name amongst his kinsmen, friends and relations who turned up to celebrate with the governor.
The CAN President however assured that the wickedness would soon come to an end and tasked politicians to sell themselves into the hearts of the electorate instead of blackmailing each other to get to a position.
He decried situation where some politicians used fetish means to achieve their ambition noting that some went as far as burying human heads thinking it would help them win elections.
The celebrant, Uduaghan, attributed his successes in life to the goodness and mercies of God.
He observed that but for God’s intervention in the affairs of his life he would not have been alive to witness his 60th birthday.
“Sixty years is not a joke. In the last 60 years, God has lifted me from nothing to something,” he said, adding, “people have accused me of thanking God so much but I have not thanked God enough.
“I am a living testimony of thanksgiving that is why I will continue to thank God again and again. God lifted me up and gave me a new song. I am stronger than I was ten years ago. I will give God all the praise. One secret of getting God’s blessing is to praise God.”
