In bid to combat fake news and misinformation, X boss Elon Musk, has announced that users who share fake or false information will not receive payment for their posts.
Musk explained that posts corrected by Community Notes, a fact-checking tool created by Jack Dorsey in 2021, will not be eligible for monetization.
The aim is to encourage accuracy rather than sensationalism in content creation.
Musk also emphasized that any attempts to misuse Community Notes will be evident because all the code and data are open source.
This will therefore make any manipulation obvious.
Recall that Musk said X will share revenue from advertisements with content creators, but this will only apply to posts that have ads in their reply threads.
However, content creators must be Twitter Blue subscribers with a verified checkmark to benefit from this revenue sharing.
Twitter Blue is a subscription service that costs $8 per month.
