Why Plateau United will not play CAF champions league in new Jos stadium

—

Current Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) champions, Plateau United of Jos, will not have the privilege of playing in the ultra-modern Jos stadium because it does not meet CAF standards due to its uncompleted state.
Instead, the Plateau state government will upgrade the Rwang Pam stadium in order to beat time before the competition starts.
The Plateau state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Victor Lapang, while speaking on Rhythm FM Jos on Monday morning, revealed that due to the short time available before the competition starts and the cost of completing the new stadium, the government has decided to fix the Rwang Pam stadium to host the matches after the ministry has done a needs assessment to meet CAF standards.
He disclosed that from the bill of quantities, the new stadium will cost over N6 billion to complete and the materials for roofing will take three months to arrive which was not possible before the competition starts.
According to Lapang, the Rwang Pam stadium will be re-grassed with natural grass and the indoor sports hall fixed.
He assured of its readiness before the competition starts.
Plateau United was declared the winner of the NPFL 2019/2020 season after club owners and the LMC decided that the league should end due to COVID-19.
The club also won the 2017/2018 league and represented Nigeria in the CAF champions league, but played all her matches at the Kano Pillars Stadium because the new Jos stadium did not pass CAF accreditation.
