Why Nairaland Is Not Accessible – Founder, Seun Osewa

—

Seun Osewa, the creator of Nairaland.com, shared that the website recently went down due to server issues caused by an overlooked abuse report. This situation sparked worries about potential hacking among users.

Error messages displayed on the site signaled server troubles, which Osewa admitted resulted from neglecting to address an abuse report.

Although he promptly removed the problematic content, restoring the site’s user interface encountered delays. Osewa suspected that cached data on Cloudflare servers might be triggering recurrent takedowns.

Despite clearing the caches, communication challenges arose with the hosting company’s abuse team, and Osewa hoped for a resolution within 48 hours.

Technical support informed Osewa that the review by the abuse team could take up to 48 hours, and the decision solely determines when the site can be reinstated. Osewa expressed patience, indicating a waiting period before the site’s restoration.

In the meantime, users have shown support for Nairaland, suggesting ways to speed up the resolution and proposing turning the platform into a more comprehensive social media hub to prevent similar issues in the future.
