Why is Tinubu Afraid of his Own Shadow?

—

When you have a pathological liar and highly corrupt person as a leader, you are for the gutter and doomed.

When a pretending democrat uses state power to fight democracy in a country that claims to practice democracy, the country is doomed as cowards of most citizens catch cold and run for shelter under the canopy of the despot for ease of manipulation.

He is an unverified Chicago State University graduate, a Chartered Accountant that never passed through any known secondary school and an alleged American drug baron that avoided arrest through refund of proceeds of drugs to the American treasury as well as a one-time Senator and Lagos State Governor, now the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by fraud. He hails from Osun State bearing three different names and holds the traditional titles of Asiwaju of Lagos and Jagaban Borgu Kingdom.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is labeled by his admirers, hangers-on and sycophants as a master political strategist while in reality, if carefully observed, he is more of a political baggage than what he is rated.

He hires the best brains and brawns that even wealthy illiterates do, to do their biddings at a fee typical of capitalists than politicians of substance.

Today, he has brokered a deal with Nyeson Wike, supposedly a PDP member but frustrated, corrupt and shameless from Niger Delta region to implement his hatchet plans against the stability of the democracy for his selfish interest not minding the consequences thereafter. Wike as characteristic of him has already murdered sleep to stay floating for the dirty job.

Wike needs to be reminded that those who understand the political history of Nigeria do not shudder when strange things are happening or about to happen.

They simply shrug it off. They know it falls within the realm of familiarity. Those who are given to supplanting the Nigerian system are even more at home with the Nigerian political history.

They know that matters Nigerian do not spring surprises. They usually evaporate and fizzle out sooner than anyone can imagine. The glaring impunity that took place over the 2026 Electoral Act (amendment) falls within this beaten track. When Obot Akpabio, who rules over the Senate like Lord of the Manor, received instructions from his principal in Aso Rock to the effect that real-time transmission of election results should not be part of the amended bill, both of them must have entertained themselves with scornful laughter.

They knew that some elements in the polity would oppose its expungement. But that was not to be an issue because the duo, were sure that the naysayers would end up with their nays and nothing more because they equally have a price.

Their rejection or denunciation of what was to come would come naught. The conspirators know too well that Nigerians will not go beyond verbal punches. That they would burn themselves out in no time and the wielders of power will have their way.

They will impose their preferred version of the bill on the country and the people will do nothing. And that was what really happened.

To demonstrate that what transpired at the National Assembly was his brainchild, Tinubu hurriedly signed into Law the submitted amended Bill with astonishing lightning speed as his foot soldiers had delivered without mistake. He displayed satisfaction.

They had bullied the recalcitrant ones into ‘forced’ submission. In pushing through the Bill without its real-time component, the sellouts in the national assembly did not care a hoot about what Nigerians wanted.

They ignored the voice of the people which is the voice of God. And in order not to create room for further agitation over the matter, Tinubu acted with speed. The contentious piece of legislation is now law. What does it matter if Nigerians are provoked?

They vividly know that the people’s anger will not last. It will be blown away by the wind.

They may be right. They made this same calculation in 2023. When Chicago State University ‘graduate’ Bola joined the race for the presidency then, his calculation was that he would have an easy sail to power as the candidate of the government in power. But when the magic of Atiku Abubakar candidacy began to manifest, both Bola and the presidency were no longer at ease. What could be done about this sudden surge towards Atiku?

They began to wonder. Then something told them to go for subversion. Overlook the results when they roll in.

Shutdown the election viewing portal and carry out as much manipulation as required under the watch of Mahmoud Yakubu. Turn the results in favor of Bola. Then begin to release the figures. The Mahmoud Yakubu-led conspirators knew that Nigerians would shout as usual. But they were quick to dismiss that as a futile pastime. Nigerians usually do not go beyond condemnation and denunciation. The mood of the people then favored real change, not the cosmetic deceitful ones (Next Level & Renewed Hope) they hate to hear.

Nigerians wanted a clean and clear break from the rapacious order that has held the country down for over 10 years under an APC mockery. However, sensing that Nigerians were determined to vote out the roguish bad order in place, the APC-led federal government, in cahoots with the conspirators, told the electoral commission (INEC) under Mahmoud Yakubu to thwart the people’s will. When the conspirators were perfecting their dubious plans, they saw beyond that moment, what would happen if we hijack the mandate?

The rogue elements, relying on their good understanding of the Nigerian psyche, gleefully declared that nothing would happen.

And nothing really happened! The people just grumbled while the ‘defeated’ rushed to the temple of justice for more frustration from compromised judges.

They taunted. In the end, those who thwarted the will had their way. And Nigeria was thrown into an APC-crafted disaster piloted by a polished Master-General of Mal-administration.

The 2023 electoral robbery by APC went through the furnace of criticisms. It was buffeted by the anger of the people. But it stood and Nigerians relaxed. Those holding Nigeria by the jugular know this. And they will always cash in on it unless Nigerians wake up from their docility to fight fiercely for their rights in 2027 because they are on same plan again.

Another election year is close by and the conspirators have re-oiled the engine of manipulation and intimidation. Will this be an interminable cycle?

Is Nigeria condemned to Sisyphean stagnation or Nigerians were created as cowards that cannot defend their rights under threat? In my past articles, I pointed out severally that the Tinubu arrangement is the strangest thing that has ever happened in Nigerian politics. The man Tinubu, used to tell us that he is a democrat. He flaunted fraudulent democratic credentials that appeared real in the eyes of the blind. It was this bare-faced deception that he used to warm his way to the seat of power. But sooner had he ascended the seat than his democratic pretensions collapsed like a pack of cards.

They were never there in the first place. The people saw through the parochial lies. The real Bola Ahmed Tinubu has since been unveiled. And those who sheepishly and greedily believed him in the past are now in shocks, including a section of the conspirators that installed him in 2023 expecting patronage. Is it strange that under Jagaban Borgu that almost all the 36 State Governors, National and States House of Assembly members are coerced into joining the ruling party they never co-founded in 2014?Then you ask: what are they looking for in a graveyard political party?

What manner of deal did Tinubu strike with the daylight defectors? Before Tinubu, we had State Governors who joined issues with the President-In-Council if they had good reasons of doing so. But that has gone.

Almost all of them have collapsed under an arrangement that is steadily consuming Nigeria. The same thing is true of the National Assembly members. An overwhelming majority of them have sold their conscience to the devil with the exception of the likes of Senators Abdul Ahmed Ningi, Muhammed Ali Ndume and Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan. They have neither a mind nor voice anymore. The brouhaha that Nigerians used to witness at the National Assembly over the Electoral Act shows that what we have in the two chambers are not representatives of the people but Tinubu’s surrogates in reality.

They are mere apologists for a ruling party that has stolen their souls. Why did it not matter to the legislators that those whose mandate they are holding are watching and taking notes of their clownish stands?

Of course, it wouldn’t matter because a good majority of them are products of fraud like the president himself. What about the interest of the country?

Do they really care?
They certainly do not. They are just sanguinary opportunists who have sold their souls for a mess of pottage.

We need to pity Nigeria for being cursed with this rapacious breed of politicians. Is it not strange that after conquering almost all the states, Tinubu and his APC are still scared stiff of a 2027 free and fair political contest? What is then the point of sponsoring the defections and still afraid of a free and fair election? Is Tinubu and APC not sure of the defectors’ loyalty and capacity to deliver in a free and fair contest? Nigerians are strategizing to counter any offensive against the franchise with their lives.

The desperation Nigerians are witnessing from Tinubu and his co-travelers is an expression of absence of confidence in itself. If Bola truly believes he has done well as a duly elected presido, he wouldn’t have embarked on a destruction binge as he is doing using Nyeson Wike as the wild dog for the job. He will not free up the political space because he is afraid of losing its control.

This is a man that made a singsong of democracy when it mattered most in 1993. Now the chips are down. What Nigerians are seeing now is a jay in borrowed plumes.

A great pretender of no equal, a hypocrite of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic status, and a regional bigot on the throne of democracy that sees nothing wrong in manipulating election results through violence. 2027 should be the year for Nigerians to rescue their country from the hands of political maniacs and pretenders garbed in democratic attire.
