WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature aimed at enhancing the sharing of status updates.Â
The upcoming feature, found in WhatsApp beta version 2.24.16.4 for Android, will allow users to easily reshare status updates with a shortcut button.
This addition mirrors functionality seen on Instagram and promises to streamline the sharing process.
The new feature will enable users to customize reshared status updates with emojis and resize options.
However, it remains unclear whether users will receive notifications when their status updates are reshared.
Currently, users must take screenshots to share status updates, a method that does not support videos or GIFs.
The new feature is expected to address these limitations, offering a more seamless sharing experience.
In addition to the reshare functionality, WhatsApp is exploring other updates.
These include the introduction of smaller and larger Meta AI models for iPhone users, as well as generative AI enhancements.
Recent updates feature improvements such as image editing, avatar creation, and faster image generation using the Llama 3.1 model.
