We’re Up Against Thieves in 2027 — Atiku Takes Aim at Tinubu Govt

The Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has described the 2027 election as a battle against what he called thieves, accusing those in power of allegedly stealing both the election and Nigeria’s economy.

Atiku made the remarks in a video shared on his X handle, where he declared: “We are competing with thieves. They stole the election. Now they have stolen the economy. They have stolen everything.”

The former Vice President also reaffirmed his commitment to restoring fuel subsidy if elected president, dismissing suggestions that his position had changed following comments attributed to one of his aides.

Atiku argued that the removal of fuel subsidy had worsened economic hardship and pushed more Nigerians into poverty, insisting that the government’s primary responsibility should be to protect the welfare of its citizens.

He maintained that Nigeria had sufficient resources to provide relief to its people through subsidy, arguing that the country’s wealth should be deployed to cushion the impact of economic hardship on ordinary Nigerians.
