We Won’t Be Intimidated— Tinubu to Trump Over Genocide Claims

President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will not be cowed by international pressure following U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of possible military intervention over alleged attacks on Christians.

In a statement posted on his verified X account Friday, Tinubu said Nigeria would continue to engage the world “with calm, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose,” insisting the nation remains sovereign and resilient despite rising global concerns.

“We are indeed faced with terrorism, a challenge Nigeria has battled for nearly two decades, and we will not back down. We will decisively defeat terrorism and claim victory in this battle,” the President said.

He stressed that national security is non-negotiable, adding that his administration is committed to ending insecurity through courage, cooperation, and adherence to the rule of law.

“Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle. With unwavering courage and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, we will prevail,” Tinubu stated.

The President also appealed to international partners to sustain their support for Nigeria, noting that collaboration is key to consolidating gains against terrorism.

Tinubu’s comments come days after Trump ordered the Pentagon to “prepare for possible military action” if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians.” The former U.S. leader had earlier designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over alleged persecution of Christians.
