We Took a Bold Step for True Democracy — Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Declares After Move to NDC

Former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced his defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, describing it as a decisive move to advance democratic values and inclusive governance.

Kwankwaso made the announcement in Abuja at the residence of Seriake Dickson, noting that the decision reflects his commitment to building a credible political platform that prioritises transparency, accountability, and public participation.

He explained that the move goes beyond a change of party, framing it as part of a broader effort to create opportunities for Nigerians to thrive within a responsive political system. According to him, the NDC offers a structure that aligns with these goals at a crucial time in the country’s political evolution.

The former governor also called on his supporters and well-meaning Nigerians to join him in the party, urging collective action in the pursuit of good governance and genuine democracy.

His defection comes amid ongoing political realignments nationwide, as actors reposition ahead of future elections. Analysts say such shifts reflect increasing demand for alternative platforms that can better meet public expectations.
