We Reject the Result — APC, PDP Challenge Adeleke’s Re-election, Head to Osun Tribunal

The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has officially commenced proceedings on petitions challenging the outcome of the August 15 governorship election, which returned Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.

The tribunal on Monday, September 7, displayed two petitions filed separately by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on its notice board at the tribunal secretariat in Osogbo.

The development followed confirmation by the tribunal’s Secretary, Pefe Belemore, that petitions challenging the election had been filed.

Belemore had earlier announced that the required notices would be displayed on the tribunal’s notice board before noon on Monday.

At the opening of the tribunal earlier in the day, Belemore and other officials of the secretariat were present as preparations got underway for the commencement of proceedings.

The APC and PDP are seeking to overturn the election result that secured Adeleke another term in office.

The APC petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was filed by its governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, against Adeleke, the Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The PDP petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was filed by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola against Adeleke, INEC and the Accord Party.

The petitions now set the stage for a legal battle over the conduct and outcome of the August 15 election.
