The Head of Corporate Communications at Bi-Courtney Services Limited, Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, has defended the introduction of airport parking fees, stating they are designed to ease congestion and improve passenger flow at the terminal.
Speaking in an interview with Arise News monitored by The News Chronicle, Yinka-Olawuyi explained that the short-stay car park policy is aimed at preventing gridlock rather than frustrating travellers.
According to her, the terminal car park is strictly intended for brief stops, not extended parking. She emphasized that the fee structure was introduced to encourage turnover and maintain order within the airport.
“We want passengers to enjoy a seamless travel experience,” she said. “The goal is convenience, not inconvenience.”
Yinka-Olawuyi further clarified that the facility is not designed for long-term or overnight use, which she said informed the sharp increase in overnight parking charges, from ₦6,000 to ₦50,000, to discourage prolonged stays.
