I understand that the ADC, the new kid on the block, is holding its primary elections today. While I wish it a smooth and hitch-free conduct, I have to be realistic that the outcome is unlikely to pass without loud voices of discontent, red flags pointed at the referee, and artificial whistles from different corners meant to distract and shape a narrative of victimhood, as is being witnessed in the APC presently.
This is because we are Nigerians who often want to win at all costs, regardless of the party we belong to. The fact that the various actors and rivals within a single party, supposedly united by one collective aspiration and agenda, can’t even reach a consensus is already a signal. It suggests we may be over-believing our wishes, desires, and hopes, mistaking fantasy for something too good to be true.
