On Friday, Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the family of the late Waziri of Borno, Alhaji Mustapha Mukhtar, to offer his condolences.Â
Accompanying him were Borno’s Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, Sen. Kaka Shehu-Lawan, members of the National Assembly, and prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
During the visit in Maiduguri, a special prayer was conducted for the soul of the deceased by Sheikh Shettima Mustapha, the Imam Idaini of Borno, along with other respected Islamic clerics.
The late Waziri, who previously served as the Prime Minister of Borno and Chief Adviser to the Shehu of Borno, passed away on December 16.
The Vice President expressed his condolences to the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Elkanemi, the government, and the people of Borno for the loss of Alhaji Mustapha Mukhtar.
“I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt condolence on the loss of a great Nigerian who believed in Nigeria and worked for the nation’s advancement and the Emirate.
Shettima emphasized that Mukhtar’s demise wasn’t just a loss to Borno but to the entire nation.
In a statement by the Vice President’s spokesperson, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima praised the late Waziri as a great Nigerian who believed in the country and worked for its progress.
He described Mukhtar as a humble, kind, and devoted individual who dedicated his life to the service of Allah and humanity.
Despite Mukhtar’s untimely passing, Shettima acknowledged the impact he made, stating, “Those of us who are associated with him are consoled by the fact that he left an indelible mark in the years that he lived in this side of the veil.”
Vice President Shettima prayed to the Almighty Allah for the peaceful repose of Mukhtar’s soul and for the family to find the strength to bear the loss.
The visit highlighted the significant contributions and legacy of the late Waziri of Borno.
